Top wheels!

"Having purchased a very expensive but lightweight Marin CXR Team hardtail I decided to look for some decent wheels that would compliment this beautiful steed. Having spent 2 and a half grand on the bike I was keen to keep the cost for the wheels below 500 squid. I already have some Mavic Ksyrium ES wheels on my Pinarello road bike, so I was already looking at Mavic wheels. After much internet studying the Mavic Crosstrails won. When I received them I was very pleased with the quality and, as I'm also a roadie, I found they were light enough to keep me happy. Once they were fitted to the bike I did the usual 'stand back and admire' thing - no problems there. First box ticked - Looks.
Right, so now the road test, uh, sorry, I mean trail test. Cwmcarn is pretty close so that was the proving ground. Ok, I've got new wheels and now I'm bouncing over every rock and tree root - yeah, I'm a little nervous. I didn't need to be - the wheels are very responsive, sure footed and I'm glad to say robust. I've been back to Cwmcarn a few times since and I absolutely fly down the trails with relative ease, and, because they are pretty light they carry me up the slopes with good acceleration that reacts to my leg power. In conclusion: I'm very pleased with these wheels. They perform as good as they look - top class!"
