Fibre Flare Ultimate Safety Rear Tail Light (Single)

Fibre Flare™ Side Lights are specifically intended to be used in combination with regulatory coloured bike lights (White front light and Red Tail light) to boost your overall side visibility. How it Works?: Fibre Flare™ is a portable self contained safety device having a flexible solid core side emitting fibre optic element interposed between two electronic housing ends; inside each of the housing ends is a single high intensity LED. When the LED’s illuminate they emit a high intensity uni-directional light beam that is directed into each end of the fibre optic core; the fibre optic then distributes the LED light input and illuminates along its entire length to emit a high intensity omni-directional light output visible from almost any direction at distances over 300 meters (constant or strobe). Fibre Flare™ has integral fabric clips at either end, these can be used to fasten it to jerseys, jackets, bags etc.. As well as fastening using the fabric clips, Fibre Flare™ comes with two silicone ladder slings that slide over the fabric clip and allow Fibre Flare™ to be securely fastened to the bike frame.

Brilliant!
Pros: very useful, bright
"All fitted to my rear stay in minutes, and with a combination of this and my new altura night vision jacket i definitely noticed a difference in the way cars drove around me. Instead of just giving a bit of room but staying in the left lane, cars where pulling out into the right hand lane.
Its bright and definitely has a wide angle of viewing so as to help with cars joining from the side roads. Other reviews mention about the water ingress into the switch end, i think its fine unless you are thinking of dunking it! They rubber seems to be tightly over the battery ends at either side, and the first use of it it did get a bit wet from spray and its fine
Don't hesitate, just get one!"

get yerself seen!!
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, Lightweight, Versatile
"used a few different light configs until I came across the fibre flare. It really is the ultimate rear light. Cars almost seem to go into the opposite lane, giving me ample clearance. This makes me very happy and safe whilst I cycle home many miles on unlit roads. Goes on and off the bike quickly and easily, extremely lightweight. Really want to get hold of a green/yellow one for the front of the bike. Just brilliant. Not owned or used long enough to comment on battery life. Happy"

great visablity, check the length
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Lightweight
Cons: durable
"check the length of the flare as there are 2 lengths, one more compact and the one that i got which i have to bend slightly to fit under the seat and to the rear stay.
also learnt that its a good idea to have the on/off button on the top when its wet, as water can get in to the casing and ruin the metal ends.
otherwise, these are a great idea, but you might want to also pair it up with a rear light"

Get yourself a Fibre Flare!!
Pros: Adjustable, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile
"I’ve done a fair few miles over the years on unlit country lanes and well lit city streets. Recent developments in lighting technologies have enabled cyclists to get hold of ever more powerful front lights which meet my see and be seen criteria. However, developments in rear lights seem to have lagged behind somewhat. Side visibility being a key attribute of any lighting system some designs to-date have not really gone out with an “all guns blazing” approach to addressing this need. Some rear lights do have banks of LEDs aimed specifically at addressing side visibility but these often fall short, both from viewing angle and brightness perspectives. These limitations, coupled with clumsy mounting systems sometimes make the task of mounting the light time consuming and restrictive in terms of the number of light placement options available.
Enter the Fibre Flare…
Having taken a look at the YouTube video demonstration of the Fibre Flare I was immediately sold and thought, “now is the time to try something a little different.” The Fibre Flare arrived from Wiggle in good time and was well packed. Supplied with batteries the light took well under a minute for me to install on my summer bike and will not detract at all from the sleek looks of your sleekest racing steed. The mounts are designed to allow quick and easy installation/removal.
Side visibility is the best I’ve seen bar none. Not only has the light made my riding experience safer, it has also illuminated (excuse the pun) my clubmates to a new disco era of bicycle lighting. On a recent visit to my club’s clubhouse my clubmates were also highly impressed, not only with plus points mentioned above, but also with the comedy value of having (I quote) an “80s strobe’esque disco lighting system” strapped to the rear of my bike.
Joking aside, the price of the product may seem a little much for what you’re getting. But, if you have a chance to see one of these in action you’ll be sold. If you are considering getting a new rear light to see them through the winter nights this has to be at the top of your shopping list."

Nifty light
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Good Fit, Versatile
"If you want something else than the standard fare of rear lights, you might give this one a try.
A flexible and relatively long light that's visible from multiple angles. I've installed mine on the seating tube, with the other end onto the seatpost. Elastic straps keep the light in place, together with the black rubbery ends. You can put it on or take it off without any tools, and without leaving any brackets/holders on your bike. However, it takes a bit too much fiddling to do so. I also don't know if it has any longterm effect on the elastic straps.
Each end also functions as a battery compartment, each side holding an AAA battery. You have to stretch them out to put in the batteries. Because they are made of a rather soft kind of rubber, I'm guessing they might do a reasonable job of keeping the water out, as they seal quit neatly around the light. The power button is covered by the rubber, and is therefore waterproof, although a bit harder to locate and operate, when reaching for it while sitting on your bike.
The light, flashing or steady, is clearly visible, day and night, and depending from where you mount it, from multiple angles. Besides that, it's a rather elegant solution, combining form and function.
You can also attach it to a bag/jacket/body altough it does need something appropriate to attach it to. Haven't tried that."

Excellent light!
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Just what to doctor ordered as the days get longer. I bought this and was blown away by the intensity of the flashing and also the wide field of vision. After some experimentation I've actually fixed it to the back of my helmet, so I can use it on my road bike as well as on my spare bike with the child-seat. Oh, and it's super-light too (scuse the pun) so I barely feel it on the back of my head. Everyone I've shown it to, cyclists and non-cyclists, are impressed.
Only tiny annoyance is that the 'on' switch is simply marked by a symbol and can't be identified by feel, but that really is seriously nitpicking! I love this and would happily recommend it to anyone.
Now I'd like one in white to fit to the front of my bike."

Awesome light.
Pros: Attractive, Great Value, High Quality, Versatile, awesome visibility
"This is quite simply the most original and versatile light I have ever used.
The clips are ideally spaced to fit between the top of your pocket and the hem of your cycle jersey. Alternatively clip it to your bag or use the silicon rubber slings to fix it to your bike (I have mine on the seat stay). The slings even have an extra tab to protect your frame.
Used fixed light or flashing it provides amazing visibility, and as an added bonus during the day it provides an interesting talking point as lots of people stop and ask what it is!

Outstanding Light
Pros: Adjustable, High Quality, Versatile, bright, 360 degree visibility
Cons: Expensive
"Really like this light. It's a doddle to fit, and will fit to most things with the straps, which also means it can be removed/reinstalled really quickly.
What I like most about it is the 360 degree visibility. On my commute to work, one of my biggest fears is being side-swiped, and this thing gives motorists no excuse, particularly with it in flash mode...
Apparently they're also due to bring out some other colours, so will probably get a yellow one for the front of the bike when they're available.
The only negative is that the On/Off switch can be hard to find in the dark. I've found I always position the light with the switch at the same position (normally at the top) so I know where to find it in the dark.....
It may seem a bit expensive, but I think it's worth it....."

Excellent concept for a light
Pros: Attractive, Rugged, Lightweight, Versatile, bright, can use rechargeable batteries
"Unlike the Micro Duo version, this light using two standard AAA batteries inserted into each end (one per end). There is also only one button to control the light.
The part which lights up (the fibre) is quite large, approx 15.5cm, so it is extremely visible to other road users.
I use it clipped vertically to my Camelbak Mule using the built in clips. Since I can use rechargeable AAAs, I use this light in solid mode. When used in conjunction with a blinker (Micro Duo and Blackburn Flea) I can be sure to be seen while cycling home after a late shift!
Some of the other reviewers have criticised the lack of waterproofing on this light. While it is true that there is no seal as such, the black ends are made of silicone and wrap over the batteries, I have not encountered any problems yet.
I have, however, ensured that the end which contains the switch is mounted at the top of the bag. This should prevent water pooling in the switch and causing damage."

Red light district
Pros: Great Value, High Quality
Cons: Poor Fit, fiddly on/off
"Saw this on someone else's bike while driving and well impressed. My commute is 12 miles in the dark each way and I'm much more confident with this on my rack and am I imagining it but less close overtakes than before ?
The rubber attachment straps aren't great though

Outstanding
"Literally brilliant. Great for my commute in the winter, unlit country lanes need a good attention grabber. The longer strip of light is a significant progression from the traditional red eyes. The flashing mode not only saves power but increases visibility.
Attachments are versatile sometimes I lock it to the seat stay but mostly I attach it to my rucksack for better visibility
The Fibre Flare does a great job and inspires confidence."

My eyes hurt
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable
"Really bright stuff. It has both 'strobe' and 'continuous glow' setting, but given how bright it is, i think putting it on strobe might be quite annoying for motorists, so i'd put it on 'continuous'.
Either way, it is just about the most excellent rear light i've ever seen. Takes away the need to be decked out like a christmas tree in an effort to be seen. My only quibble, and a minor one at that, is that the black ends of the light seem to be a bit excessive in proportion to the light part. But perhaps that is needed for internal electronics or something.
Other than that, definitely a good buy, and would be recommending it to myself - as the one i purchased was a Christmas pressie for my best mate.
Just wish it has a 'cylon' style left-to-right effect so i can curve it and mount it on the back of the helmet - wouldn't mind it being accompanied with the related sound effect either;)"

Fantastically bright from every angle
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Good Fit
"This light is brilliant, Its that good I bought a second and on showing a colleague at work who commutes daily I had to order one for him also.
I have these lights fitted to each of my seat stays. They give off a fantastic red glow which is viewable from every angle.
If you want a light which will enable you to be seen from the rear and the side, this is it.
These are fitted with rubber 'ladder' type grip which allow them to fit onto any shape stay or tube."

Great in the dry, useless after wet.
Cons: Wears Out Easily
"Was great until I used it in the rain, then water got in and it started acting up. First it wouldn't switch off and just emitted a faint glow until I took the battery out. Now it won't switch on at all. Shame because until it broke I though it was a great design."

Pros: Attractive, strong light = safety
Cons: shipping time from uk to singapore was longer then
"I live and ride in Singapore, where the drivers are notorious for their atrocious driving skills, lack of awareness and inability to see cyclists, even in broad daylight.
So a strong light is a must and this light works great, as advertised.
With an aero-frame, it was a little tricky finding good mounting points, but the ribber straps and flexibility of the Fibre Flare helped me to find a spot (see photo).
People often comment at how strong the light is and "they want one too".
Will consider the green or yellow side lights in future."

good visibility
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"I use this light when commuting in winter or very dark conditions. It is easy to see from all angles and doesn't blind other cyclists behind you.
It's an expensive product for my mind but useful in those times when you know extra safety is required.
The rubber fixing system is pretty easy to use and means no scratching on the frame."

There is no brighter light..!
Pros: Great Value, High Quality
"Ok, maybe there is a brighter light out there, this one seems to be pretty good though!
The instructions advise against using this as a rear light but it physically can be and does the job well.
