Kiron Mistral Road Bike Frame

Whether its for use as a training frame, a crash replacement, or that essential spare for the weekends racing; the Mistral fits perfectly. Individually hand-built using a high quality 7005 Aluminium tubing, you get everything you expect and demand from a great training frame, and nothing you don't. The front triangle has been combined with the tried and tested Easton EA70 carbon road fork, giving you that extra comfort and precise feel with all the stiffness at the rear where you need it. The Kiron Mistral frame-set is the perfect companion to the new Kiron UltraLite bicycle, and the beginnings of a new and exciting UK brand built specifically around the sportive rider.

wow!
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, Great Value, Lightweight
Cons: Limited Color Choices, fork did not come with decals as shown on web site
"I have Focus Cayo Ultegra 2009 for weekends and old Cannondale touring bike from 1991 for commuting. I wanted a training frame which I could use through town and winter weather. Since Cayo had all sorts of bits lavished on it since I bought it in January I had a whole Ultegra groupset and Easton SL90 wheels lying around. All this got fitted to Mistral frame and I was off for a spin from Acton to Richmond. Wow, what a difference from distant 1991 alu frame on my Cannondale. Light responsive with great handling, almost enjoyed it as much as my Cayo ( now very light at 7.2kg ). So glad I did not e-bay my bits as I now have another unassuming demon bike in my stable. Cant wait for the next ride!"

Poor quality
Pros: can't think of one
Cons: Poor Quality, Wears Out Easily, Limited Color Choices
"OK, here goes. Not only does this frame not come as pictured (no Easton decals on fork, no gear cable adjusters, no bottom bracket gear cable guide and no water bottle cage bolts) but it is pretty poor quality as well.
It is heavy (feels particularly so around the rear wheel area) - it feels more like an old Cr-Mo steel frame than an Alu one.
The paint is poorly applied - apart from having to remove the paint from the area where the headset bearings go, there are noticeable streaks elsewhere on the frame. In addition, the red paint on the carbon fork is already beginning to flake off at critical areas giving the frame an overall shabby appearance.
The main problem though is the bosses where the bottom bracket gear cable guide and the water bottle bolts go. These seem to be made from the softest Alu they could find. The shell at the bottom bracket area is very thin and the screw hole for screwing the gear cable guide into is also very thin meaning that at most there was only one or two threads to screw into and this was made of a very soft Alu. The result was a stripped thread on first installation (not happy). Superglue was only remedy for this. The same applies for the bottle bosses as on second installation of these one has already stripped. I was not over tightening these but there is simply not enough material there or it is not sufficiently strong material.
Overall just not been happy with this frameset at all. It is not the most expensive basic frame but is also not the cheapest and the quality is simply not up to scratch.
Recommendation – look elsewhere."

Super new frame
Pros: Great Value, responsive
"I had been searching for a frame that fitted my budget and this seemed the most sensible one as it best fitted the geometry of my old bike. It was supposed to be an upgrade that I built up over time, but due to a cracked old frame, the old components have gone onto the new frame. I am very pleased, the bike responds well to my instructions and I feel as if I should be able to climb like a mountain goat! Time will tell as I've only done about 160km on it so far. I am hoping to stick on some new wheels to do it justice.
I put the headset in myself, if you are not confident don't do this. The frame and forks come in separate boxes so somebody will have to put them together.
