"Bought the woman's version for my wife to replace her 20 year old mountain bike. The off-road, crazy fun we used to have a few years ago has now slipped into sedate meandering along country lanes. Her old bike, although comfortable, was a heavy beast. Even with narrower tyres fitted it was still an effort to get it moving. Time for a change she thought.
I tried to steer her towards a lighter bike than the QX70. No suspension. No frills. Nice and simple. But in the end she looked at the sort of riding she enjoyed and decided that this classy-lookimg, matt black bicycle suited her. She was right. With its more upright riding position it's suited to leisurely weekend rides along quiet roads, perhaps with the odd canal towpath thrown in. Proper size road wheels keep it rolling nicely too. The suspension seems quite stiff - not immediately noticeable, but I suppose it's there just to soak up little bumps, rather than tree roots.
The 'womans' saddle wasn't very comfortable. Too narrow she thought. So we've swapped it. The handlebar grips weren't as nice as her old Specialzed BG Womans either so it now has a set of those too.
And also added some Cane Creek Bar Ends for a different hand postiton.
Altogether a great looking bike at a good price. Fit for its purpose."
