Amazing Taste, Good Value
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, great taste, bottle included
"Having seen alternative products in the recovery-drink area, such as the Maximuscle range, and been very disappointed at their (generally) disgusting tastes, I was hopeful that this quality range might be a marginal improvement. It is very, very good! I should point out as I wasn't entirely aware, that these drinks do have a protein content, although not as much as the 'building' style drinks - but are still best described as a 'healthy', isotonic milkshake, thus making a great recovery drink.
The taste is best described as like an M&S milkshake - smooth, consistent and easy to drink. As the bottle does not have a shaker grille, a good amount of shaking is needed to get the drink to mix completely, but this isn't more than about 20-30 seconds. The bottle itself is well-made and doesn't leak, making this package far better value than the bulk packs of single flavour (which work out at virtually the same per-sachet cost, but without including the bottle - which retails for £4.99 separately on Wiggle).
The sachets themselves are in thick foil and surprisingly large, however, the idea of them fitting into a bottle to dispense is great and works very well. It's very easy to keep one inside a bottle without fear of it leaking or degrading.
The other advantage of using these products as your 'main' recovery drink is that they are sold in a number of retail stores and supermarkets, so if you forgot one it's easy to pick up another - ready mixed. However, Wiggle is definitely cheaper and the sachets are easier to transport.
Overall I was very pleased with the quality feel of this product, and delighted that it translated into a delicious drink that is very suitable for the purpose intended - do try some!"

Recovery Heaven
Pros: Good Fit
Cons: Unadjustable
"This shake is so good you don't even have to do the exercise before drinking it. Seriously, exercise just causes injury and speeds the onset of osteoarthritis. Before you know it you've got a walking stick and an artificial hip. Do youself a favour, do it the easy way with this shake. Rumour has it that Lance does nothing but drink these shakes twice a day and hey presto he's twice the man he was (though he does now need a bigger saddle). I've personally stopped eating any other food stuffs as this takes care of it all for breakfast, lunch and tea. If you eat the packaging you will also get a bit of extra fibre.
Can't recommend it highly enough. Happy training.

Surprisingly delicious!
Pros: great flavours
"I bought these recovery shakes because I am easily influenced by marketing and keen to be doing the most I can do perform well in my sport (triathlon). I bought the trial pack because I was worried the drinks would be horrible and I didn't want to waste my money on a big case of it before trying it. The advantage of the trial pack was that I could try all the flavours and I got a free bottle! Well now I am a bit stuck because I thought there would be a clear winning flavour in the trial pack but I LOVE THEM ALL!!! It's actually a struggle to stop myself having them when I haven't done any training. So, if flavour is something you're worrying about, worry no more! They are delicious. The problem you will have is chosing the flavour to buy in bulk!
The drinks are very easy to make, the powder dissolves pretty well and makes a nice "thickshake" kind of consistency which is easy to drink quickly.
In terms of aiding my recovery; I am enjoying my training and feeling good the morning after hard sessions so I think the drinks are helping.

Hits the spot
Pros: High Quality, Lightweight
"I purchased the recovery kit which actually came with an additional sachet so ended up with 9 and a new drinks bottle (added bonus as some of mine were getting a bit old). I've tried all the flavours and they all taste good and are easily palatable even when you sometimes don't feel like much after a long or hard session.
In terms of recovery they appear to be doing exactly what they should and replensishing the energy stores and aiding recovery and i've always felt as though i'm fresh again for the next workout, which can be just a few hours away as i often train twice a day. What i like is the portable sachets that you can take anywhere and just add water to when you're ready instead of carting around ready made drinks that add weight to your run/cycle.
Overall a great product and i'll be buying more very soon."

Essential
Pros: High Quality, tasty, easy to mix
"Now that the For Goodness Shakes are in powder format, it makes them so much more portable. Mixing with water is dead easy when pouring the contents from the trouble free sachet. The really yummy creamy drink feels smoother than the bottled FGS variety.
Taking a For Goodness Shake after every workout improves my recovery before the next training session. I tried not using the shakes for a week and tired quickly as the week progressed. They are now an essential part of my training programme.
During long endurance rides of 12 hours or more, I use these shakes as a comfort drink to see me through the difficult times. They make a refreshing change to the usual energy drinks."

Great taste - better than the actual bottles
Pros: High Quality, good taste, easy to mix, nice consistency
Cons: Expensive
"I bought these with some scepticism on how they would taste and whether they would really do the job.
I've only just got into cycling and fitness as a whole and generally found my recovery time after extended periods of strenuous excercise was quite long before I used decent nutritional products such as these.
After a fairly average mountain biking session (3hrs) followed by a 1hr spinning class I drank one of these and I actually feel like I felt the benefit. My body feels pretty much ready to go again, which this time last week was a very different story.
They also taste really nice and have a better consistency than the pre-made FGS shake bottles you can buy in the supermarket - they're lighter, smoother and overall taste a lot nicer.
They are quite expensive, but I would say they're worth it, particularly this "trial" pack which includes the bottle and a selection of the flavours so you can pick your favourite."

tasty!
"I'm not sure about the science, but a couple of these at the end of an exhausting ride definitely make me feel better. They mix easily (in a big, wide necked bottle, given a good shake) and have no lumps. They're thick and quite filing and I think they taste good, the chocolate is particularly good."

recovery supplement
"The shakes mix well and taste good. The only exception is the chocmalt :( which I found to be very unpleasant. I cant really tell if they help with recovery as its the only type I have tried. Dont seem to get any muscle soreness the next day (or is that me not training hard enough)"

Tasty, convenient, probably works
Pros: tasty, convenient
"Having tried all four flavours, I have not found any of them unpleasant - my favourite being the banana.
I am usually not a fan of "berry" flavoured drinks but the Super Berry was subtle enough for my tastes.
The chocolate and vanilla flavours were - to me - also more subtle than they might have been - which is good, considering you are chugging down half a litre of it after a ride, so don't want anything too "intense" or "sickly-sweet".
Sachets are of course very handy for storing, transporting and for carrying on the bike, the sachets themselves being tall and flat to comfortably fit (and leave plenty of spare room) in a jersey pocket.
Having used them after hard gym sessions and after moderate multi-hour bike rides, I do believe that they do help; I trust the science involved and anyway they taste good so act as a nice "mile shake reward" for hard effort in a session.
Some might say they are a bit expensive but as you are only using one per session I think the pricing is fair (when bought in multi-packs such as this).
The bottle is good - sturdy and with a convenient level-indicator on the side."

dissappointed
"I think the content could be healthier, ie an alternative could be used to replace to the sugar which is a very great part of the carbohydrate in this drink, also I believe I can make myself a better tasting and healthier recovery drink."

Shake It Up Baby!
Pros: tasty
Cons: too tasty
"I needed something to stem the hunger & replace bacon sandwiches after my early morning commute to work, so I got this bit of kit so as I could sample each flavour before deciding which to use in the long term.
To my enjoyment I found that they are all rather delicious although the chocmalt does leave a funny after taste.
In the end I'd say the banana gets my vote."

a shake that tastes good!
Pros: taste, consistency
Cons: portion size
"I love these shakes because they taste good, even the berry ones, which came as quite a surprise to me. The consistency is really good as well, mixes very quick and there are no bits in it. So perfect!"

Flavour not too strong
Pros: Great Value
"I now use these all the time because the flavours aren't too overpowering or sweet. The only downside I found is when their shaken up the produce a lot of foam. I don't know how much of the product you lose to foam but their is quite a bit produced and you can't drink it. The last batch I got the manufacturer left note in it saying they have changed the recipe to produce less foam but in my opinion its still the same. Favorite flavors is vanilla, choc and banana. The berry isn't really that nice"
