Hutchinson Barracuda Enduro Mountain Bike Tyre

The Barracuda features a central tread with high knobs running perpendicular to the rotational direction for low rolling resistance. Designed with small knobs for traction and square knobs for braking it offers excellent cornering grip from reinforced lateral knobs.

"Great for loose, loamy, slippery stuff. Higher rolling resistance than most on hard pack, but ideal for a wet winter."

Pros: High Quality
"I bought this having read several online reviews for a weekend in the Brecon Beacons. Great tyre. Didn't miss a beat in the heavy mud or over wet rocks. Very grippy. Maybe not the fastest rolling tyre ever... but hey ho.. I'd rather stay upright on the rocky descents..! Quite expensive but worth it."

Great Dry/Stones Tyre
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Rugged
"I am primarily a roadie, but i started riding MTB for training. I was running Conti Race Kings 2.2, and just had so many stacks. Changed to these and they are alot better. Great for dry/stones/gravel, so much so that my previous shattered confidence on some trails has returned and i am going faster. Haven't ridden them in the slop so can't comment on that side of things.
No punctures experienced where before I used to get alot. I am glad I took the recommendation to get these as I was about to give my MTB away. Now with these tyres, I am considering entering a race.

Nothing short of spectacular!
Pros: Great Value, Rugged, High Quality, Lightweight, ultra grippy
"Kenda Nevegal 2.35 were my tyre of choice for "go anywhere in almost any conditions" and I was very happy with them. But after my bike got stolen a pro rider friend recommended I try Hutchinsons on my new (Santa Cruz Blur LTc) bike. The Barracuda's are in the same category as Nevegals but they are so amazing that after 1 ride I ordered a set for my missus. Basically it's the grip from these Barracudas on roots and rocks that is simply stunning. The rubber seems softer and tackier than the Nevegals which is probably why they grip so well. You can pump them up to 50 PSI and the soft tread still "gives" and hooks up on rocks and roots. I think they roll similarly in terms of speed but they are very noticeably lighter than Nevegals, making a noticable difference to handling, performance and therefore "fun.". They are quite a bit more expensive and it remains to be seen how well they wear but I really don't care. What price a broken wrist, arm or leg? I'll go for the tyre that grips everytime! Having said that when conditions are bone dry they are overkill for advanced riders (not my missus though), and that's when I love to get my WTB Prowlers 2.1 on and simply FLY round the trails."
