Excellent
Pros: a good book
"I've broken my leg so can't ride a bike for a while. This is something to do in the meantime - an extremely well written book which gives you an inside look at the life of a pro. Michael Barry, although an experienced pro, is obviously still totally in love with cycling and some of the prose is great. The pictures are good, but this is a book to read not leave on the coffee table. Make a good companion to David Millar's autobiography."

Revealingly emotional Prose
Pros: revealing
Cons: none
"I really enjoyed Michael Barry's descriptions of pre race nerves, and the emotional roller coaster of stage racing. I could not praise this book enough.."

A fine read
Pros: Adjustable
"Some cycling books (that's right Lance, I'm looking at you) don't reveal much about cycling culture. Others are poorly written, bringing them "close to flying" out of the window. Michael Barry's books is a well written, informative, expose of the life of a pro through a whole year, and it's a very enjoyable read. With Rouleur's beautiful photography, this book is very highly recommended."

A nice insight into pro cycling
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, beautiful
Cons: Expensive
"This volume screams class, the outside cover, a moody black and white shot, gives you a taster for the rest of the book, written by Team Sky's Canadian pro', Michael Barry , with photography by Camille J McMillan
Inside the covers, Barry gives an insight to the world of a domestique throughout a full year, the writing is thoughtful and evocative, and it is indispersed with moody photo's, notes, training schedules and power meter printouts to give a full and intriguing view into Barry's world as the year progresses.
Anyone who participates in endurance sport, will connect with Barry's overall love of the bike and should enjoy this honest and open read.

Delightful Read
Pros: Attractive, High Quality
Cons: Expensive
"This beautifully produced book lived up to my expectations. Michael Barry writes with real insight and depth to give an inside view of the pro cyclists year season by season. He gives a wonderfully evocative summary of the joys and struggles of the professional cyclist - the hard routine of off season training set against the explosive excitement of high season racing. The photos complement the narrative well, not just the normal cycling shots but unusual and intriguing angles and subject material. All in all a great book that I found hard to put down."

"What a fantastic read, I skimmed a review ages ago in one of the weekend papers so was expecting a good read but this is great. A real blood, sweat and tears look at the less than glamorous side of professional domestiques, Sometimes had me itching to get on the road and sometimes made me grateful I work at a desk. A must for anyone who's ever made a sacrifice for their sport."

Soon to be a classic.
Pros: Great Value
"This is just a must have for the cyclist with style. Getting the picture filled book in your hands, flipping trough pages, it just makes you want to book a training camp trip right away.
Nice extras are Mr. Barry's SRM data output schemes from several training and race days (among which the World Champs).
Expect Rouleur quality, and then add some!"
