Amazing pedal but didn't go the distance.
"Love these pedals - extremely positive feel when clipping in and out, excellent contact with the pedal, relatively light given the punishment they can take.
Unfortunately one of my first set gave up after only a few months of relatively light use - the axle unscrewed from the housing = grease and ball bearings everywhere.
On the upside the other thing you pay for with XTR is the warranty (3 years) so a replacement was straight forward (once it was ascertained that it wasn't bearing wear that was to blame - bearings are not covered)."

Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: Wears Out Easily
"Looks great, and lightweight. But bearings need to be cleaned and re-greased often, as the rubber seal does not hold the dirt back."

The easyest pedal to use and the best
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I used crank brothers twice before moving to this pedal.
I found the bottom wings of the crank brothers were getting smashed and bent out of shape on rocks in the technical/ rocky sections in the Alice Springs Enduro. Leaving me unable to clip in in a race really sucks. I switched to the XTR Trail version and my goodness - so easy to clip in every time. No more stuffing around. What a revelation! I now bought these pedals for my new 29r carbon hard tail and again positive engagement every time. I don't miss the Trail platforms either. These also leave you with room to move your foot a little side to side just like the crank brothers even though they don't advertise it.

Simply brilliant.
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"Shimano SPD pedals are still the best system out there. This XTR pedal is a further improvement on what was an already superb pedal. Engaging the cleat is super easy and you really notice the extra 40% contact with your shoe. OK, so there are lighter pedals out there but there is a good reason why Shimano doesn't waste time with titanium axles etc. These pedals will last for many, many years, so their value is by far the best."

"I changed from 520’s to these XTR Race pedals and am very happy. You can feel the “ramp up” before the pedal release."

A great pedal
Pros: Durable, Comfortable, High Quality
Cons: Expensive
"I already own the previous XTR pedal and this one is a fair bit better, especially in terms of foot/pedal contact. It just feels more connected to my shoes over a wider area. I seem to have a little more power with these. It's a bit pricey but a fantastic pedal."

No better MTB pedal
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Comfortable, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive
"This is the daddy of MTB pedals. I have had mine for years and only just replaced with another. The old one works despite years of abuse and neglect, I only replaced for purely cosmetic reasons. It's easy to clip in and out of, hard wearing and super reliable. I suppose the expense might put some off and maybe there's better value lower in the Shimano range but i'll stick to these thanks."

Shimano XTR Pedals
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive
"These pedals are so sweet, the quality is the best I have ever seen.
Shimano pedals last forever and survive those rockgardens that crush
other pedals. I was considering several other fine brands and decided on
the new XTR. What a great choice the will look great on my new 29er.
