Cool bike - great value
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Versatile
"Not being a bike wizard I can't give a detailed review of why it is so good but it is! It's smooth to ride, the gears change very smoothly and the forks are great, though yet to be tested on serious trails. Only issue is a slight mis-alignment of the front derallieur (is that right?!) but I'm sure can be fixed easily. Great delivery time and easy to assemble. Oh, looks awesome too."

Awesome GT Avalanche 1.0 Disc 2011 - Medium
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit
"Wow, Amazing bike for the money. A little heavier than some but with quality components. I really like the riding position (i'm 5'7 with 30 inch leg). The bike feels a little on the large side but the small was too small. Felt like I was falling of the back of the seat. Delivered in only a couple of days in perfect condition. I am one happy chappy."

Great Bike Great Price
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile
"Its been a while since I have bought a bike but this is amazing. I found it for £420 on wiggle and then an additional £10 off what a deal. The bike is very light and easy to ride the components are excellent quality and I don't think I could have bought better for the price even second hand. I would recommend this bike all day long."

Brilliant for the price
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Comfortable, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile
"Bought the GT when it was on offer at £420, I'd looked everywhere, and couldn't find another bike with anywhere near as good a spec for less than £500!
Had it a couple of weeks now, and it's been brilliant, highly recommended! :)"

GT Avalanche 1.0
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged
"This is a superbly specced bike for the price. I was looking for a bargain and had decided on last-year's model until I saw this 2011 model for less than the cost of the previous year's. I don't know how Wiggle do it!
I've always liked the GT triple triangle design. Combined with the chunky aluminium frame and knobbly tyres, it just looks solid and dependable. The gears shift precisely and smoothly (XT rear is not to be sniffed at) and the front fork seems to work well in the rough stuff.
I bought it in order to get some exercise, so it hasn't done anything challenging off-road yet - I'm not up to it yet, but I'd guess the bike will be! Very happy with my purchase."

Awesome bike
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable
"Ordered this little baby as my old bike has seen better days, initial impression - a very good looking bike, have had plenty of positive comments, really good quality parts, fantastic price from wiggle for just over £400, some sites are still selling this for £699!!!
Excellent offroad - also excellent onroad and the lockable front suspension does make a difference, feels very stable on the road - would recommend this deal to anyone.

Brilliant bike at a bargain price
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
"I bought this bike for my son to replace his previous bike that had been stolen. That one was a near top of the range Rockrider and was a great light weight bike, however this GT Avalanche 1.0 disc 2011 is an even better bike, but ended up being cheaper.
The GT has great spec with Rockshox, shimano, deorre etc yet worked out in the sale the same price, if not cheaper than many of the bog standard, scaffolding pole thick tubed, lower equipped bikes you see in many other bike shops etc.
The list price was near £700 but in the 'hot deal' sale it was reduced to just a shade over £400 which was an absolute bargain. Where else can you get a bike as light as this and as well equiped for under £500? It was on sale in another major cycle chain but was still £100 cheaper on here.
I've never bought a bike mail order before as I have always been a bit worried about delivery delays, wrong product etc and its always nice to try it first, but I shouldnt have been concerned. It arrived well within the estimated delivery time, was well packed and setting up was a doddle. Just put the pedals on with the wiggle free tool kit, put the handle bars on and off you go.
My son is dead chuffed with it, it looks pretty flash and goes like stink due to the smooth gears and how light the bike is.
I couldn't keep up with him on his Rockrider on my pretty decent bike so I've no chance now against him on the GT. Hmmm, perhaps I should have bought him a heavier rubbish one instead !!!
I would definitley recommend this bike to anyone and would buy myself one right now but we would look a bit sad riding the same bikes."

Great first mountain bike
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Rugged, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Got this bike from Wiggle this week. So far, very impressed. Comfortable, good level of equipment. Handle bars are quite wide though.
Threw it down a hill today and it just kept tumbling, held up well, not a single thing out of place :)"

Excellent bike
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable
"The bike has well known GT's triple triangle frame design, with smaller rear triangle, which makes it more stiff and durable.
The bike is easy to handle, the rear derrailer is excellent Shimano Deore XT 9 speed, but the front is just an Shimano Alivio, but that is not such a problem, because the front one doesn't have so much work to do as the rear one.
Brakes are great and powerful, you have to get used to them if you didn't use disc brakes before.
Tires are Maxxis Mobsters and they are great off-road but are very noisy on the pavement. But that's normal for DH tires. The front one is 2.35 inch wide, but when you compare it to some other brands it's not so wide. Schwalbe's Smart Sam and Black Shark 2.1 have the same width as 2.35 Mobster.
The fork is also great - it has lockout, preload and rebound adjustment.
The Bike also looks very nice - if you compare it to other year's models, 2011 model looks the best of all of them. But that's only if you have the black one - the white one doesn't look so good.
Conclusion: the bike is just great, my personal price/performance winner at Wiggle. I strongly recommend this one.
I can't find any cons for that price."
