the best for all round training
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Rugged, reliable, consistant quality
"have been using gator skins for about four years average about two punctures a year based on riding 50 -60 miles per ride three times a week in winter, only problem found was with the side walls breaking down this has now been overcome with the new construction , i would recomend these to anyone seroius about winter training, go for the 25mm width which gives a bit extra drag when training"

Tough tyers

Cons: tight to fit, not good for racing
"These are tough puncture resistant tyres. Good grip in all conditions, roll well and last long miles. Tight fit on the rim makes fitting and removal a challange,thumbs alone will not be enough.The only downside so far is they do feel heavy compared to race tyres."

"having suffered numerous punctures in london i have struggled to find a suitable tire.
Reasonably priced this tire is the toughest i have found and having had done approx 500 miles i have yet to have a puncture despite riding though lots of debris including glass. Tire is reasonably heavy but worth the tradeoff and although i have found rolling resistance ok the ride is a bit more solid over any bumps.
If avoiding punture's is most important thing to you i wouldn't get any other tire"

Gatorhardshell Road Tyres

"I wanted a new pair of 28c tyres for my winter road bike that seems to becoming my summer road bike! I have had good experience of Gatorskin tyres and when I saw the new Hardshells I thought they would be a safe bet. I have only run them for a short time but all bodes well with usual Continental (German products not their low end far east items) quality.
Fit is tight and secure with excellent rolling resistance and a comfortable ride with predictable handling.
Recommended!"

You have to be thickskinned sometimes!!

"As many others will testify, UK roads are generally rubbish. That doen't stop us from wanting the tyres that roll fast, feel comfortable and are cheap(ish). Well i have tried many variations of ok to great tyres and they were all excellent.........until they punctured, regularly, at recommended pressure etc. So bought these as i am a average cyclists and needed some longevity.
Tyres arrived last week just as the storms had blown over, so what better time to take them out, some of the back roads were partially flooded but more noticable was the amount of debris (stones/flint/branches/mud) in the road that was impossible to dodge, ploughing threw these tyres performed brilliantly, 100 miles in total and i cannot see any cuts or stones embedded in them, also for such a hard skin they are reasonably comfortable. If they keep this up for a 1000 miles they will be worth every single penny, they will puncture one day but if it is not that often.....................very happy days ahead!! They roll alright, feel alright but they can be a little tight to fit."

deservedly the toughest tyre out there

"After puncturing my rear tyre twice in as many days, I asked a mate of mine who's into bikes what's the toughest tyre I could fit, and he recommended this one. It IS, indeed, very tough in more ways than one: took me an hour to wrestle it onto the rim, and I had to resort to duct-tape in the end. With the tyre being puncture-proof and all, I hope I won't have to repeat this for a while. Anyway, both front and rear tyres are now changed, complete with Conti tubes, and I was enjoying a few weeks of trouble-free riding. Grip is good, I suppose, I am definitely not pushing any limits. Will fit these for my wife's bike as well, with all the brambles and whatnot on the roads nowadays."

Virtually indestructable tires

"Had these for ages before I upgraded my bike and kept the other tires on it for a while. They fell apart and I got very bored with changing inner tubes will all the punctures.
I live in the South Downs and there is loads of flint that gets washed from fields into the roads so I went back to the gatorhardshells as I never had a puncture with them before. I haven't had a punture in them in 200 miles so far.
Someone said that they will also probably save time in a race too, as they won't puncture like some thin, sticky tires will, although they probably aren't as quick.
I would recommend them to anyone who hates punctures!!"

Too tight

"I was recommend by the website review and bought a pair, but it is too tight for my frame, I spend a whole night, did everything I could to fit one on, but finally found the inner tube was damaged during fitting. Have to switch to michilen pro race as there would be no way to fit it on if tube need to be changed on the way."
