Pros: Attractive
"If you like reading about a wide variety of cycling experiences this magazine is fantastic. All profits go to charity, which is always something worth getting behind, and there is lots of content for the price you pay. After skimming the two issues that arrived last night, I don't think there are many (if any) articles about the technical side of things. The focus seems to be like I said previosuly, more on the experience and intangibles of cycling. Overall a great magazine and one that I would definitely recommend to other enthusiasts."

Bog Book Plus
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, educational, informative
Cons: makes you want to run out and ride!
"This is a fantastic little gift for the cycle addict in your life. Well designed and well written it is an all round pleaser. The perfect "Bog Book" with each article/piece generally 1 to 2 pages long with a full page illustration or photo. The magazine contains topics are eclectic and cover all aspects of cycling. My Christmas stocking would be disappointing with out a copy in it!"

Lovely Cycling Journal
Pros: Attractive, High Quality
"This is the must read cycle magazine for me.
Loveley paper and print.
Great smell
Good pictures & illustrations
Wonderful diverse range of articles of a good length.
A few good adverts at the front and the back only.
It is a pretty large journal also and keeps me going for a few days.
I am a cummuter & MTB rider but I enjoyed BMX & road racing as a kid and this has it all.
I find 'Privateer' magazine to be dull and repetitive and too retro even though I love retro, although again a very aesthetic magazine. Singletrack Magazine is a very good purchase but does not have the quality factor so it is 'The Ride' that I really look forward to."

Well written, beautifully illustrated. A keeper!
Pros: Great Value, High Quality
"The Ride Journal is without doubt the best cycling magazine available today. It might look pricey, but it is huge and packed with interesting articles that cover every aspect of cycling (BMX, endurance, people profiles, love of cycling, racing).
There are a few ads at the front and back, but thats it. No dull "we review 100 pedals" articles, no praise-heaping product advertorial.
If you like Rouleur, you'll like this. If you think Rouleur is self-indulgent tosh, you'll like this."

Ride versus Rouleur
"Chances are, the only people who read Rouleur or Ride reviews, are people who’ve never read them. Perhaps you’re trying to decide whether to buy one, both or neither?
Well, rather than simply review this issue of the magazine (excellent as always), I thought I would give a comparison between Rouleur and Ride.
Firstly, the magazines are very similar in style:
· They both are printed on high quality paper
· Adverts are fewer, and more stylish than you’d find in a regular monthly magazine.
· Photography is of an exceptionally high standard
· Articles are more like essays and are written to a very high standard
· Contributors are often specialists or professionals
So where do the differences lie?
Cost of gear
Rouleur is definitely aimed at the Rapah set – the photography is painfully cool and the adverts lean toward high-end gear. Ride however seems less “exotica” orientated – with more down to earth gear being featured or photographed.
Pro cycling
Rouleur is angled toward professional cycling: both in terms of subject matter and the contributors – indeed articles are often written by people within the pro scene. Ride though welcomes you in to the cycling “family” and makes it clear that cyclists everywhere have enough in common to break down the barriers of style, equipment and discipline. Pro cycling is mentioned but not exclusively so.
Road bias
Rouleur is 100% road cycling orientated, covering the history, the people, the gear, the places and the culture. Ride does all of that, but encompasses all disciplines of cycling. Rouleur worships the road, whereas Ride worships the bike.
Choices choices
They’re both great publications, with interesting articles published to a very high standard. I love Rouleur, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes I feel I’m not quite cool enough to be reading it. Ride though always leave me with the warm glow.
If I had to recommend one or the other to a non-road cyclist, I would always go with Ride - it’s just that bit friendlier. But if you’re cooler than cool, or want to feel like you are, go with Rouleur.
If you can’t decide between the two, do what I do, and buy both!"
