MULE NV
Pros: Great Value, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
"Excellent Pack. Exactly what I was after for riding to and from work. Holds all clothes and other repair tools. The smaller pockets are great for that extra storage space. The water proof cover has already come in handy on a wet ride home. The NV is perfect for keeping my back dryer than my previuos bag. The best part it was $50 less than local suppliers."

Good but heavy
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Versatile
Cons: too heavy
"Very good quality and rugged material. I spent ages wading through reviews and chose this. It is very good, but I do think it is way too heavy even when empty.
It will take everything you need out on the trail, even with the 3L bladder being full.

Handy Backpack
Pros: Durable, Comfortable, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: fixed waist straps
"Great quality and has many features including a raincover and lots of handy pockets. It is also very comfortable.
It's not a 'huge' backpack but great if you want to carry a spare change of clothes or enough items for a day trip (which is ideal for me) but not something you would use to go camping for a few days.
The only thing I didn't like was that the waist straps were fixed and not removeable but besides this, I'm very happy with it."

Great bag
Pros: Comfortable, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Had the pleasure of using this sack on a dead sea to red sea cycle trip.
Very comfortable and well secured. Back support is very comfortable, and some air does get down to your back, but you'll still get a sweaty back (mind you everything gets sweaty in 35 plus degrees).
Easy access for drinking whilst cycling, great 3lt reservoir, and lots of well designed pockets and space for a packed lunch, energy bars, suncream and phone and camera, and you could squeeze in a spare waterproof.
No leakage from the reservoir.
Just the job for day rides.
Only major con is the very limited colour choice.

Excellent
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Versatile
Cons: Expensive
"I bought this to replace my 10 year old Blowfish and the improvements made over the years are excellent! So much easier to use/clean. Holds a fair bit of kit too, I can use it for commuting as well as on the trails or for trail running."

Great backpack and very confortable
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: heavy with full bladder
"I bought this pack after reading reviews on it and watching the product video on Camelbak website.
For the extra cost in getting the NV with the better back and rain cover it seems pointless getting the std Mule.
I find this pack great for off road biking, holds all I need for a good 3 to 4 hour ride. I never notice having a sweaty back at all so it does what its supposed to.
The bladder design is great, easily removed from backpack and easily cleaned too with large filling cap that takes only half a turn to lock.
If there is one con I would say its the weight of the pack with a full 3 Litres of water as it is very heavy when full but then its hardly Camelbaks fault that water weighs what it does. I find I tend to only fill the bladder to 2 litres for most trips.
Yes its expensive but the quality is amazing and its been washed 3 times now (in the washing machine at 30 degrees) and it comes out like new and dries very quickly."

Fantastic Camelbak Quality
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit
"I have owned many Camelbak systems over the years but this one is a notch above the rest. It seems that the quality and versatility of these products is on the up and up.
The new antidote reservoir is fantastic and has an internal baffle to keep the profile low against your back.
The NV back panel is great for keeping your back cool and dry. Plenty of pockets and easy access storage for all your tools, gels and devices and the main compartment is plenty big enough.
The only problem I had was that the built-in rain cover has started to tear along the edge stitching but other than than, great product."

Fantastic for long rides and commuting
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile
"I shopped around for a while for the perfect bag for use whilst commuting. I use a 2l cambelbak on the trails as I'm generally on day long rides with small groups so water and storage is never really a concern.
For commuting though I remove the bladder from the MULE and have simply a great backpack which holds my lunch and few clothes to change into, along with all the usual essentials such as wallet and keys.
There's perhaps not really enough room for a full change of clothes including shoes, so maybe the HAWG is better for that but generally it has everything I need and the helmet pouch is genius - and holds my bike locks when the helmet is on my head.
Not the most spacious, but very light, holds a decent amount of equipment, robust and rides effortlessly - you don't even notice it's there. The NV system means you don't sweat and works well. Also the waterproof pullout cover is a great touch. Generally brilliantly designed and highly recommended."

Reccomend for lightweight hiking trips
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"I took this bag on a full day mountain climb/hike. There was enough room for all the essential items: change of clothes, first aid kit, food, map. Nice pockets for phone/valuables and several individual comparments in the front section so small & essential items can be easliy reached. The pockets on the hip belt are quite small, but could hold lip balm, energy gel.
Very comfortable bag, it is light, so no problem for wearing all day. Ventilation on back is wxcellent. 3 L camelback is perfect for a long hike, or hot day. Be careful that cap is on properly as I had one leak, but the seperate compartment, mant that nothing got wet. The rain cover is great, although I had problems with it getting caught on rocks when scrambling down mountain and I had to reattach a couple of times.

Great Pack
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Comfortable, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Used this in anger for the first time last Sunday on a 20 mile Yorkshire Dales ride. I filled the Hydration bladder with 1 litre of Ice, and 1 litre of a cold water / fruit juice mix. It is very easy to fill and re-insert in the special pocket in the pack. It's also easy to remove and clean afterwards. It does make the pack quite heavy with a 2 litre fill, and would be even more so with 3 litres in, but the point is, youv'e got it there if you want it, and I was still getting cold fluid at the end of the 4 hour ride.
The pack itself has more than enough space for carrying toolkits, spare inner tubes, extra layers, wet jackets etc, but also can be compressed down if you are on a shorter ride, where you might not need as much stuff with you. There are loads of secure pockets in the pack for phones, keys, wallets etc.
I adjusted the shoulder straps to let it sit low on my back & hips, which initialy felt a bit loose, but stability is soon restored by fitting the waist and chest straps to pull it tight in to the body.
I only knew it was on my back when it moved slightly up and down on a fast, bumpy descent, however it did settle straight back into place, so didn't cause any problems. The venting system on the back panel works well, with no hot spots, and though at first the back panel feels a bit firm, it soon feels natural enough once you get moving. The pack feels well constucted and looks like it should be hard wearing.
Overall a good pack, miles better than the old rucksack I was using before this!

Very nice pack
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Bought the green version to use when out on the trails and also to commute with.
Enough space in the front pockets for food and all tools etc needed when out on the trail (spare tube, multitool, levers, first aid kit etc) and enough space on the inside for an extra layer etc.
The compression straps are handy to tighten it down when not full.
A zippered pocket inside one of the main pockets for change / cash card etc would have been really nice."

Pros: Durable, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"This is a top of the line Camelbak and it really feels it. The slightly cheaper models don't seem to have everything this does. Build quality is top notch all over. Everything is thought out clearly, adjustable and clever. The chest strap is on rails so you can adjust the position. There is a rain cover hidden in a little zipped pocket in the base and attached by an elastic. There is enough storage space for bike accessories and a rain top as well as a few other smaller bits. The back is setup to get as much air though as possible, it works well but its not going to stop you getting a sweaty back."

Great Purchase
Pros: Comfortable, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Versatile
"The bag easily holds all you need whilst on a good XC biking trail. The bag is very comfy and has great airflow design to prevent your back from overheating. I have all my tools and wet weather gear in the bag, and its coped well holding that, and it will easily accomodate more. The bag has a lot of adjustment and compartments and would highly recommend it to anyone. The 3 litre hydration unit is really easy to fill clean, remove and replace, and drinking on the go is very easy with no hassle and quick flow. All in all i am very happy with the purchase."

"Camelbak have stepped up their game with this one. I've purchased many Camelbaks in the last 10 years and have found that they've made considerable improvements to their products that are practical and options that are specific to most needs. Their website has videos for each of its products that are informative. This is what sold me on the Mule NV 3. The many features were displayed and they live up to their claims. I personally find the Mule NV 3 has everything I need for mountain biking while providing a light solution for storage and comfort for use in the heat."
