Hope District 3 Rear Light with Splitter Cable

The NEW District 3 rear safety light is bright! Now that may sound like an obvious statement - but until you’ve seen one of these on, in the dark - amongst other lights, reflectives and distractions you won’t quite believe it!

Quality Commuter Light
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit, safe - you will be seen!
Cons: Expensive
"I bought this to go with the Hope R4 front light, mainly for winter commuting and wasn't disappointed.
I went for the version with the splitter cable so that I could run both lamps from the one battery. The run time is great and I've been charging it weekly with no reason to worry about it dying on me.
Note that this version has neither a battery or charger and depends on you already having a post 2010 Hope light to run alongside.
The light has 5 settings:
Constant - Normal
Constant - Bright
Flashing
Flashing Fast
Pulsating
Very bright and easy to fit and remove this light is of the usual high quality which seems to go without saying with Hope products. It's also made in the UK which is really rather satisfying and gives you a smug feeling of national pride.
One small annoyance - to turn the light off you have to go through the other settings, which usually means pressing the 'on' button 3 times to switch off.
Could really do with a push and hold button like the R4 front light. This is just a minor personal niggle and not enough of an issue for me to regret my purchase.
A bit expensive but worth every penny."

Awesome light
Pros: High Quality, very bright
"I had the Hope 4 LED front light already and the District rear light is the perfect addition. My front light was an early model so you need to make a small mod to the connector in order to use the splitter cable but if you speak to the tech guys at Hope they can explain what to do and you only need a Stanley knife to do it. The rear light makes ordinary lights look pathetic, so if you're hot on safety and visibility then it's an absolute must have !"

Awesome
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"This is an awesome light and worth the money. I use it on the low-power continuous setting at night. I'll keep the full-power for fog because it delivers an extremely bright light that is probably too much for following traffic.
Careful adjustment so it points down a little is also recommended.
The flash option give a great light for daytime and early morning use."

Almost stupidly bright rear light
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Adjustable
Cons: Expensive
"I did say almost though.
Clean and small, it fits on to the saddle stem via one of 3 different sized rings and the adjustable clamp for the bayonet fit now being used by Hope,
The clamp and rings will not fit aero stems so you're out of luck there...
That adjustable clamp is VERY important as you do not want this light shining straight back - frankly it's insanely bright and will dazzle traffic coming from behind. I have mine angled down slightly and it lights the entire rear of the bike and a section of road behind - I get huge amounts of room from cars overtaking me when this light is in use. For that alone, it's worth having.
Issues to note are:
The cabling if you're sharing one battery between the District and Vision light needs some sorting out, and the cloth ties are helpful but not ideal - I wrapped the spiral cord section around my rear brake cable sleeve and that keeps it tidy. At the front you need some imagination, but take some time so you don't have loose cables flapping around. This can be a faff when you first get the light.
I've had an issue with my Vision 2 dropping to low light mode on occasion and I think this is due to the extra resistance from the cabling / connectors.
If you want the rear light as high up the saddle stem as possible, it can be awkward operating the button as it is at the top - it would be better to one side; but this is a minor issue.
However, if you want the brightest rear light you can buy (and you can stomach the cost) this is the one to go for.
Just don't blame me if you get mistaken for a low and slow UFO."

Pros: High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"I bought the a District rear lamp with the splitter lead and the Epic version of the Hope Vision R4 LED front lamp, the only difference being the front lamp comes with the larger capacity 5200 Amh quad cell battery. Both lamps are beautifully engineered which is only what I have come to expect of Hope products.
Both front and rear lights are small and unobtrusive ,The photos on Wiggles web site don’t give you any clues as to how small theses lights are. I wanted a front and rear package that would provide me with hours of duration ,but would also not be to large or heavy. Bright enough for off road too.
The R4 comes with a twin setting option
1.Med, High, Max.
2 Low , Med, Flashing Low To Med.
The District Rear Lamp has five modes……on half power( bright), on full power (dazzlingly bright), flashing slow , Flashing fast, strobe . all modes are very bright.
Pros.. Small, beautifully engineered ,long battery life, light.
The lamps are magnificent, the light output even on the lower settings is very powerful , I can only see me using the Max and High setting for off road biking , the Med setting is more than good enough for most road use, In fact you may upset other road users by using the higher settings and dazzling oncoming traffic that’s how bright the lamp is. The other excellent feature is the flashing modes with both lamps, due to the size of the battery and lamps I will probably be leaving them on the bike right around the year and having them on all the time, in flashing mode when light, having had several near misses with the usual “sorry mate I didn’t see you” (dew or frost covered windows, sun very low behind me) for this use they are great, the battery is so good you can just turn it all on and forget about the lights .Charging time from flat is six hours, I have used the lights on flashing front and rear for a total of eight hours now having only got them last week and the are still going strong.
Cons ….. Expensive.
£331 for the two lamps is a lot of money in anyone’s book for a set of cycle lights, but if you are fortunate enough to be able to afford them and want a setup which will give you peace of mind when commuting and training , and also be bright enough to allow you to fly down an unlit trail at break neck speed look no further.
One niggle, why are the chargers so expensive ?
