Works even without the multitool
Pros: High Quality, Lightweight
"With even a tiny amount of ingenuity you can get this to work as a decent chain splitter (for field repairs obviously!!) without the matching multi tool. Just stick a small allen key where the handle should go, and a 5mm to turn the screw and you're away. Actually better than some of the chain splitters fitted to multi-tools, such as the aluminium ones, or ones with shallow chain retaining teeth."

Rubbish
"Failed on first use. Dropped me right in it when I was in a tricky situation.
Casting is wonky, and pin does not align with chain correctly. Do not buy.

Rubbish - do not buy
Cons: Poor Quality, Low Quality, Wears Out Easily, breaks immediately
"This broke on first use and consequently I do not recommend it at all. Despite it seeming reasonably priced and easy to carry with you without the robustness to do the job none of this is relevant."

Not up to scratch
Cons: Low Quality, Poor Fit, Poor Quality, Wears Out Easily
"The build quality on this was poor, with the pin pointing up at an angle. With careful use I managed to get the chain in just the right position that I could still break old links. On the third time I used it I didn't get it quite right. Assuming I just had a stiff link I kept on turning. All I was doing was pressing the pin further onto the chain (rather than into the link) and pushing the chain onto the far side of the tool. End result - two ruined links and a broken tool.
Went down to my LBS and got a heavy old tool for a similar price. No problems at all."

Handy piece of kit
Pros: Great Value, Lightweight
Cons: Wears Out Easily
"Have used this on a few occaisions and have been very impressed. Its small enough to fit easily in a pocket or saddle pack, but using with a multi tool gives plenty purchase to extract rivets with minimum fuss. Only drawback is the snib that pushes out the chain rivets - this seems to fit loosely, and seems to be made of soft metal. The end has become deformed and it tends to apply pressure at an angle."
