"These were bought to go under padded race tights, which seem the norm now. I find padded shorts and padded tights too much, so these undershorts were just right for warmth without excessive padding."

"My Trek bike came with Shimano brake shoes, and at some point I replaced the blocks with Aztec equivalents - all was well riding around near home, but when I did a big continental ride with long descents the brakes squealed like mad. So went straight back to these Shimano Dura Ace/Ultegra blocks and the performance was superb."

"I like this De-greaser, as it does the job well. I briefly used a 'foaming degreaser' instead, but just found most of the expanded foam is wasted. this just works better than any other, and really helps ease the maintenance of drive chain, gears, and anywhere there is build up of grease/oil."

"This heart rate monitor is not the most expensive on the market, and so does not download your training data to a PC or make the toast - but then I didn't want that. It does a great job of telling you your heart rate (HR), giving a target heart rate zone which can be set to fat burn (temperate - below 70% max HR) or fitness (aerobic - 70-80%) training, thus defining break points between temperate and aerobic and threshold (above 80%) with beeps. It also gives a calory burn level and an average HR, time of day and training time. Just what I was after for use on a Spinning bike to keep my training at the right level for certain training sessions. The signal is also coded so there should be little likelihood of temporarily picking up additional signals at the start of events or in a gym class."

"This is not the most expensive sweat cover for training bikes, but it certainly does the job well. It has velcro fastenings for the handlebar end, and as such is pretty flexible exactly where it goes - I use it on a spinning bike. The saddle end is an elastic loop and works well. Other more expensive versions have pouches for your TV / DVD remotes etc., but they would then be in the line of fire from your sweat, so don't quite get that. this does the job well, and is reasonably priced."

"This is a good first training DVD, for use with spinning bike or turbo trainer. It works well, is easy to use and gives you a few different options for building different lengths of rides using the sections. However, I think Rick Kiddles next two DVDs are the best on the market - they don't show the stationary bikes as this does, and are a more realistic workout visually. The one thing not many write-ups or descriptions of this first DVD mention, is that doing the ride with Rick and featured on the film are Victoria Pendleton and Rob Hayles - surely a massive bonus!"

"I got thtis product to help with training, which at the moment consists of several 1.5 hour spinning sessions a week, in an attempt to get fit for the Ventoux Challenge in May - and at around 16 stone was aware that I would not lose weight very quickly if I trained with energy gels or drinks. This product seems to keep you nicely hydrated, and certainly you don't notice a lack of energy, as you would with water....and the weight loss - well I've lost 1/2 stone in a month."

"Definitely the best energy drink I've come across. It provides the fuel you need, but also refreshes and without the acid taste that many energy drinks have. It sits well in the stomach in the heat of a 9 hour ride, and never disagrees with you. I've tried a lot of drinks over the years, and settled on this one. i occasionally try other new drinks on offer at sportives or given as freebies, only to stay loyal to this one - the best."

"Bought this to support a Hero HD Video camera, as the mounts that come with that are a little fragile to raise the camera from the bars. This is necessary so that you can get a view from the bars without brake hoods and cables in the picture. Used the original plastic mounts and after 2 events they cracked and nearly lost the camera - this is a much better solution - plus I can clear the bars of my computer too."

Are pads different for front and rear wheels?

The reason I ask is that one pair of left and right pads both have the same set of numbers on them, and the other pair of left and right pads both have a different set of numbers on them.

No - same brake shoes front and back - so same blocks/inserts.

A great value lightweight SPD compatible clipless road pedal with sealed bearing and cro-mo axle.

Have only just started cycling. Will any cleat and shoe fit these pedals or do I have to purchase specific accessories?

Top 500 Contributor

the cleat will come with the pedals, so automatically match the pedal. The shoes should state that will take Shimano SPD cleats/pedals - most do.

How do I use them?

I am new to cycling and am wanting clip in pedals rather than the toe strap ones. I am looking at the Shimano R077 Road Cycling Shoes and am wondering if I buy them and these pedals, they will work seamlessly. Do I put these on my bike and use as is and just clip my shoes in? Sorry about my limited understanding, much appreciated!
Top 500 Contributor
Top 500 Contributor
Almost - with the pedals you will get some 'cleats'. These bolt to the bottom of the shoes you buy. The placing of these is quite sensitive so follow any instructions with the pedals about how to line-up your cleats. General rule of thumb is to try to put the cleat central (from side to side) on the shoe, and roughly across where the ball of your foot is within the shoe. After you have this basic position test the shoe/cleat combo out for comfort and adjust with 2mm movements, try again, until you feel it is right. Also best to have each shoe's cleat as a mirror of the other, unless you have a known difference between your feet, e.g. a size diff, twist, other damage/issue to allow for.

Does this product come with a chest strap or do you need to purchase one separately?

Top 500 Contributor
Top 500 Contributor
Yes this comes with a chest strap - never having worn a chest strap HRM this strikes me as very comfortable. I originally just bought this for use on my spinning bike as a training aid, but may well wear it for events - thinking before was that a chest strap would be cumbersome, but not so.

Will this stand support a Brompton? If not, any thoughts on a suitable stand?

Top 500 Contributor

Yes - this stand holds my Dahon folding bike fine - as it can be set at a suitable angle to hold the bike by either a classic top-tube, or by grabbing the seat tube - that's how I hold my Dahon in this.

Can I add Zero to my sports drink (usually Torq)? Will doing this help to reduce cramp?

Top 500 Contributor
Top 500 Contributor
Most sports drinks are optimised for absorption when made up as per their instructions. If you add one drink to another my guess is you mess up the balance of both. If I were going about this, I'd take a bottle of each with me, both made up as instructed. Or else I'd add one drink to the other - i.e. Torq made up as instructed, added to High5 Zero made up as instructed - so that the optimum solut levels are still maintained. Then use with energy gels to get the energy per hour rate you want.

Whats the nutritional breakdown per 100mls when made up as directed?

Top 500 Contributor
Top 500 Contributor
Each tablet contains: 11KCal, trace levels of Protein / Fat / Fibre, 2.6g Carbohydrate, 0.25g Sodium, 40mg Magnesium. So per 100ml it depends if you use this 1 tablet in 500ml or 750ml bottles, or maybe even use 2 tablets. Obviously divide by 5 if you use a 500ml bottle - to get values per 100mls.

what are the sizing guides on the overshoes

If you're buying for Road shoes I'd suggest following the size guide, but for MTB shoes go 2 sizes larger than your shoe size.
