To alleviate poor shifting and uneven train wear, most manufacturers recommend chain replacement at or before 1 percent stretch.

"having experienced the hassle caused by a double flat caused by a trimmed hawthorn hedge I can strongly recommend having some kind of self healing slime in your tyres. If you don't want to go tubeless then these are the next best thing."

"These are Italian and look it. They may not be subtle in style but they fit and perform superbly well. Available in a wide range of colour combinations they make a nice change to the ubiquitous plain black shorts. Another Castelli essential for the "poseur rouleur"."

"Like its competitors the Craft Superlight manages to help keep you cool by wicking away sweat. Unlike some of its competitors its sensibly priced as well. But it still looks like yout grandad's string vest."

"I bought the Deuter Streamer to go with my Deuter Attack backpack but if it fits (its quite wide) it could be used in other makes. It is a bit easier to fill and clean than the market leader's product as the whole top of the bladder opens up for filling. The bite valve works very well and also seems to be less prone to leaking. Recommended."

"In common with most Castelli gear, the Vuelta is a little on the pricey side, but it is worth every penny. The cut is athletic but not tight, it wicks moisture superbly well, the full zip makes taking a leak that bit easier, there is a 4th pocket at the rear with a zip - ideal for keys or small change. It looks classy and timeless and is the best quality jersey I own. I ordered one size larger than usual and it fits perfectly."

Karlos's Questions

ZERO is the new electrolyte drink from High5; it's virtually calorie free (1.4 cal per 100ml) and has a light refreshing taste.

Can I add Zero to my sports drink (usually Torq)? Will doing this help to reduce cramp?
