"Doesn't cover screen or sockets. Only stops a few bumps and scrapes when not on the bike. Water and grit can collect between the rubber and the Garmin causing damage later on."

"The price is creeping up with each generation of product, tech usually gets cheaper.
Works well. If you're used to previous Edge 705 a few things may annoy you a little, e.g. change brightness or something and you have to click back instead of waiting a few secs for the menu to dissappear.
Bluetooth to Garmin connect (and maybe Strava in future?!) works really well."
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile
Cons: Expensive

"Using alongside a pair or ovalised chainrings, which no matter what they say, are more likely to drop a chain right when it counts. This solved the problem and is less fiddly than many other catchers that use the same bolt as the position adjusting bolt.
Of course you need a round tube.

A thick moisturising solution for comfort and reduced friction on endurance road rides. Apply to your seatpad on shorter rides or apply to both your skin and seatpad on epic sportives and stage races.

"Was okay untila little bit of water got into frame. The threaded parts corroded really bad in little time. Can't see any reason why it went so bad, as it was all carefully greased etc. Ultegra BB lasted longer. Now running either Ultegra or Hope BBs on my bikes."

Question on the Garmin Edge 810 GPS Performance and Navigation Bundle.

Does the Garmin Edge 810 GPS Performance and Navigation Bundle ship with UK maps or do you have to add them? It isn't clear that it does on the spec.

Cheers,
Will

What's new from the 800?

Hi, I'm looking to replace my damaged 605. I just wanted to know what new features does the 810 have over the 800?

Thanks

Bluetooth is the major one (update Garmin connect automatically in secs via phone app). Bikeradar has a review that details changes pretty well.

What is the difference between the pre loaded map and the additional City Navigator Europe NT except that it includes Europe

I am wondering what the advantages are with the City Navigator Europe NT map over what would be pre loaded? for the UK obviously it will include Europe but does it give more detailed uk data?
Top 1000 Contributor

If you need to know where roads go in UK or Europe you need to buy the map....simple.

Otherwise you only get to know where cities are in relation to each other not how they connect!

Allows for derailleur adjustments from the handlebars and works on Shimano road shifters.

Are these threaded and can be used as downtube adjusters?

Not threaded, but can go into anywhere where just a cable end cap goes.

Probably but why bother spending the extra cash? Go for something cheaper. That's like having a really expensive bottle of wine to wash down your Big Mac from Macdonalds!

Deuter Rack Pack Uni fits?

Will the Deuter Rack Pack Unit fit these panniers well, hooking at the bottom too?
Top 1000 Contributor
Top 1000 Contributor
My advice is use the bag that is for the rack, it is quick release and convienient. The rack is not designed for real heavy duty use for road bikes. For heavier duty use use a road frame with eyelets or get some P-clips that you can use to secure a convention rack onto.

I've used mine on a road bike for carrying light change of clothes to work on a regular basis - no porb. But wouldn't carry a kitchen sink with it.

What is the difference between this (Topeak QR Beam Rack - RX *with side frame*) and the "Topeak QR Beam Rack - RX"?

I can't see any difference at all in the picture (they both look like they have side frames) yet this one is more expensive.
Top 1000 Contributor

Can't remember exactly but there is obvously MTB and Road bike versions (less accessories for Road, but it works well). There is also a version where the support rail drops down so the rack is closer to the wheel. I used this on my road bike as it allowed me to still put my small saddle bag on with inner tube and tool in.

which cassette offers the lowest gears with a compact chainset? please dont confuse me, just tell me which one to buy! thanks

Top 1000 Contributor
Top 1000 Contributor
Ultegra now has a 11-28 cassette which will give you a pretty low gear with a compact. Be warned you need the latest rear deraillieur (it has a longer cage for it to cope with the range of gears).

Otherwise a 12-27 will work and is still pretty low.
