"Once I managed to assemble it to fit my bike it was great, but the front fork was too tight and I had to hammer it in. No locking device. Otherwise it is a delight to wheel around and has made travelling so much easier for me. Don't have to take anything off."
Pros: Great Value, Adjustable, Lightweight, easy to wheel
Cons: i had problems assembling it

"The Lap count number is too small to see quickly, if you loose count.
I found it very expensive to change battery (pressure test cost). Rechargeable would be good. New software gave me down load of Chrono time, but the Lap swims although they showed up as uploaded clicking on this always gave me only the chrono set I did not need. Prefer to Finis Swimsense which did not work as advertised and was even harder to read.
"
Pros: Lightweight, easy to use while swimming
Cons: exexpensive to change battery, lap count no needs to be bigger.

"I can now power train, without applying the bike's breaks. Only think I would like is a quick release from power effort set, to free spin, for quick recovery, on/off sessions. Instructions for assembly were not the best, but I managed, as a non mechanical older female so I guess anyone can!"
Pros: Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons: Not Enough Features

Stop counting laps. Let Garmin do the maths with Garmin Swim. It's the swimming watch designed for pool use that tracks your distance, pace, stroke count and more.

Does this work using GPS and could it be used for open water swimming to track distance?

No it is no use in open water except to record Chrono time
