"An excellent light weight, durable SPD style pedal that has been put to use on both cyclocross and cross country MTB.
Both pedal sets have seen more than their fair share of mud and water and still spin perfectly. Bearing sealing is very good and they survived numerous power/jet wash cleaning."

"Solid but light weight wheel with good double sealed bearings ideal for wet weather or CX muddy/wet conditions.
Wheels are straight and true, and roll freely. Wiggle price for the wheelset was excellent, should have bought 2 sets !"

The top competition tyre with all around protection. As well as the V-Guard belt it is also protected by a complete SnakeSkin fabric. The additional protection works particularly well on the shoulders and side walls.

"With some late season races and sportives to ride, I was looking for a robust but light tyre that could be used in the wet weather and offer good puncture protection.
Having had great experience with the Durano Plus which are my go to winter training tyre, I wanted to find a lighter racing/sportive tyre, so I decided to give the Ultemo DD a go on spec..
Only limited mileage so far (~200km), but I have found the grip excellent in both wet and dry.
Compared to the Durano Plus, these are much lighter and spin up very quickly.
No marks or cuts so far, and no punctures despite others suffering on a recent ride around the back roads."
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Limited Color Choices

"Its never an easy choice with tyres, light and fast or heavy and strong !?!
Having suffered a little too many sidewall cuts in my traditional Autumn/Winter Conti GP4Seasons, I gave the Durano Plus tyres a go. Probably not a fair jump, as they are not directly comparable and I clearly veered on the side of more protection.
So far, I have put on about 300 miles on them in both wet and dry conditions on heavily flint lined local roads, that would have caused other tyres to have nasty cuts or flats when it rains.
Having been on local club rides where others have punctured, these are holding up very well. No cuts or marks in the tyres either so they will definitely stay on for the Autumn and Winter season.
Grip seems fine in dry and the tread pattern certainly helps assure confidence in the wetter conditions.
They are certainly not the lightest tyre and do feel a little heavy, but nothing significant and I could easily spin up to a decent 40kph TT pace on the club run today !"
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Rugged
Cons: fairly heavy

"An essential but ingenious little device to protect your fame / bottom bracket from the mishap of a lost chain when chaing from large to small chain ring.
What makes this product so very clever and sets it apart from any other is the ability to set and lock the front derailleur without the chain catcher fitted. Once you have perfectly aligned the front derailleur you can then fit the catcher finger and with its own independant allen bolt perfectly set the catcher.
So simple and works perfectly."

"For the weight obsessed cyclist !
A very accurate an well made weighing scale that is better than the other widely available model from a certain tool company.
The key difference between the two scales is the Alpine will measure to +/-10g, whislt the other scale is +/-20g. Both have the same 25kg top limit.
When every gram counts, knowing the weight accurately will help.
The scale is best held in a workshop style cycle stand and is gripped on the metal cylinder section below the main red body/display.
The hook is plasticoated and does not scratch paintwork if weighing a bike.
Display switches betwwen metric (kg/grams) and two imperial scales (stones/pounds & pounds/ounces). Thee is a zeroing button, that can zero from a given weight provided the total does not exceed 25kg.
Looks good and seems well made, expect it to last."

"A 30pin iPhone ANT+ key that works with a wide variety of iPhone apps.
Purchased to work with the popular cycle / running related apps and to communicate with my ANT+ cycle/running kit and HR strap (all Garmin based). and also my SRAM/Quarq crank based powermeter.
All worked fine with no problems, excpet the Garmin Fit and Garmin Connect apps, which require the specific Garmin 30pin key ! Garmin key only works with Garmin apps, nothing else.
Pitty that you need both keys, which I now have !
Anyway, works and that is all that matters."

"An excellent cement for tubular tyres on allow rims, and once you have mastered the art and use a suitable brush, it is easy to apply to both the rim and the glued surface of the tub tyre.
Note this is for allow rims, and should not be used on carbon rims. There is a specific carbon rim cement that takes account of the higher temeratures this braking surface reaches.
The real issue is perhaps to tape or glue, and there are distinct advantages to either system. On balance and having used both systems, it is easier on balance to glue and this gives the best performance. Sure you need to invest your time in the preperation of your tyres and rim, but the riding experience on tubs is well worth it."

"An essential bit of kit if you own a Lezyne track pump and need to rapidly inflate any presta valve, be that traditional threaded type or thread-less types typical used on valve extenders for deep section rims.
Note, if you own an older Lezyne pump that does not have the
ABS pressure release valve, you will need to get this as well.

"The Spider Pro Workstand is a very high quality product and from the moment you unbox the stand, you are immediately impressed with the attention to detail and build quality that is typical of all Tacx products I have purchased.
The main telescopic tubing is heavy gauge steel with a chrome plating finish. The locking mechanisms are simple and secure, and require just initial adjustment with a hex key to set the correct tightness. They then operate like QR wheel skewers.
The tri-foot stand, spreads wide and will support light weight road bikes to heavy MTB bikes. Each leg is powder coated steel and has an pivoting plastic foot pad at the end that will allow placement on uneven surfaces. There are three rubber shoe pads that fit to bottom of each foot and allow use on smooth floors.
As part of the package, is a nice adjustable front wheel stabilising arm. This attaches to the seat post and one side of the handle bar and is secured by a "knobbed" rubber bungees.
An ideal stand for all typical bike alignement needs.
When finished, the workstand collapses and is easily stored or moved."

Does the 800 show outside temperature and is it accurate.

Top 250 Contributor
The internal sensor is accurate, but does have a long time constatnt. Meaning if the EDGE is kept inside prior to ride, it will initially show the inside ambient temperature then move to the outside temperature at a rate of about 1 deg/minute. Once at the outside temperature the variations do track faster.

What device do I need to upload the city Navigator Europe NT micro SD card to my Garmin 800 ?

I've just bought the 800 and the card came as part of the bundle. The card readers I've looked at online don't look as if they would fit directly into the 800.
Top 250 Contributor
Top 250 Contributor
The SD will have the maps preinstalled. You do not need any external device (PC) to upload them. Just insert the card directly into the Edge 800.

If you purchase maps from Garmin and download them on-line, as part of the software download you will have the Garmin application that allows you to transfer the whole or part of the maps to a blank SD card. The application will wipe the SD card, then transfer the files. You will need a conventional SD card reader or have a PC that has an intergrated SD card reader.

Naviagate to the page you wish to display the gradient and in its configuration (Bike Settings > Timer Pages > Page x > Field # > choice the field location.

From the list that appears choose Elevation and then you can select Grade (options are Elevation, Grade, Total Ascent, Total Descent, Vertical Speed, VS - 30s avg)

Will the Garmin 800 display cadence and watts at the same time

Top 250 Contributor

Yes, provided you have a power meter that is recognised by the head unit, basically any ANT+ power meter seems to work (wheel or crank based at present, with Garmins own Pedal Power Meter in the 2012)

Enable the power sensor in the configuration and ensure you can connect to it.

Then select the information you want in any of the three screens.

Ideal pedal for recreational riders wanting to commute or tour. Combines SPD mechanism on one side and a concave stable platform pedal body on the other, you can ride with cleats or normal shoes.

Which shoe would you reccomend for use with the Shimano A530SPD pedal?

Top 250 Contributor

Any cycle shoe that accepts the SPD (two hole) cleat will be fine, so basically MTB style shoes, though some road shoes have dual hole patterns.
