"I took these on a week's touring of the Alps and they worked out very well. Admittedly I took minimal kit (including a pair of Rohan trousers that fold down very small). Make sure you use a non-carbon seat post and also buy the rainproof cover. If you're prepared to carry only essential kit, this is a good option."
Pros: Lightweight, well designed

"Practical way to fly a bike out to France. turn your bars and remove the pedals and then you're done. I take a few strips of bubble wrap to wrap around rear derailleur, brakes, seat and bars and that provides extra reassurance. Bags are solid enough and will last a few trips with care. Flew 2 bikes out to Bordeaux (Merignac) and back without incident."

Do the side panniers zip up when not in use?

Re: Topeak RX Trunk Bag DXP with Side Panniers
Yes. The side panniers are 'extensions' only if you chose to unzip the sides and use them. Otherwise it can be used as a main bag with small side pockets that are flush with the main bag itself.

do the side panniers not hit the wheel with bumps, corners etc if i only have the rx beam rack to suspend the bag on?

I've used these and they stay well balanced and clear of the wheel/rim provided you use the topeak QR beam rack rx with v type frame (ref 5360137927) that comes with v-shaped side panels that you manually attach to the rack itself (and there are elastic ties in the panniers that you attach to the bottom of the metal v side panel as per normal panniers).

Does this bag come with the mounting system or does that have to be purchased separately?

You need product ref 5360137927 (topeak QR beam rack rx) and that should come with side frames (v-shaped) that you manually attach to the beam rack (straightforward to do). You need an allen key to attach the frame to the seat post (must be non-carbon post). Also worth buying the Topeak Trunk Bag Rain Cover For RX (EXP or DXP).

Full set up

What else do I need when purchasing the topeak RX trunk bag dxp with side panniers? Which beam rack? Do i buy a beam rack that has side frames already installed? Is the above trunk bag the biggest on the market? Will this set-up hang onto a seat post that is carbon fibre or do I need an alloy (or other) seat post?

Thanks for answering all my questions!
You want the Topeak QR Beam Rack RX with V type large frames (ref 5360137927). You attach the v-sides to the rack (and it's straightforward to do). You must use a non-carbon seat post given extra load. Also worth buying the waterproof cover (I don't have reference to hand, but search using same Topeak Rx trunk bag dxp + cover).

TT Bike

Would this product fit TT bike? or can you suggest any other bag to fit over TT to protect from some weather?

I have a BMC TT02 on Topeak rack under cover but sometimes get rain and dirt if windy.

I am after a bag that can go over it on the rack to protect, keep clean and limit pre ride maintenance.

Appreciate any advice.
Yes it would. The bags are oversize so you can slide your bike in and fold over the excess. More resilienct than the usual bicycle covers I have come across.
