Will this fit a Giant Trance 2011?

Hi,

My Giant Trance came with Shimano M542 22/32/42 and Shimano Integrated Press Fit BB.

Would the XT M770 fit and would the large chain ring being two teeth bigger just mean I add 2 chain links?

Would it be better if I just bought chain rings? If so which ones would fit the M542 please?

Many thanks indeed for your help.

Regards
Steve
Staff Answer
The M770 should fit without issue and a chain with 2 xtra links should compensate for the additional teeth in the larger outer ring. We do however also have the TA Chinook chainrings which should be compatible with the M542 chainsets as well.

The Evolve 42T and 32T chainrings have been upgraded and improved with extensive CNC machining for shifting accuracy and sharper looks and a hard wearing CrMo steel 24T inner ring.

Can I fit these onto Shimanon XT Hollowtech chainset

My chainrings have worn so looking to replace...and usually prefer to upgrade at the same time. Would these fit? I have heard they are better than Shimano....
Staff Answer
I can confirm these should be compatible without issue.

These Hope hub conversion kits let you customize your Hope Pro2 or Pro2 Evo front hubs to fit different dropout styles.

Will the QR option of this kit allow me to use EA 70 XCT 15mm front as a standard QR wheel and fork? Or are they only Hope specific?

Staff Answer
Unfortunately these are only listed as Hope specific fitments so we're unable to advise a fitment can be confirmed, my apologies I cannot be of more help on this occasion.

Shimano ST-2400 Claris 8-speed Road STI levers for Triple chain rings are a great value set of shifters. These allow for easy braking and shifting, have a visible optical gear display and the set comes complete with SP41 gear cables.

2400/2403?

Hi!

I have a real Noob question! What is the difference between the 2400 and 2403?

Regards,
Alex
Staff Answer
I can confirm that the 2400 groupset would feature a standard double (2 ring) front chainset, and the 2403 groupset would feature a triple (3 ring) front chainset.

tyres

i am in the process of rebuilding an old Stumpjumper comp for use on road and trail

Could you recommend a thinner more hybrid tyre that would fit a 26x1.5 rim and let me know what metric size would be

cheers

Colin
Staff Answer
I can confirm that something like the Schwalbe Marathon Original GreenGuard Rigid MTB City Tyre would fit without issue and is available in a 26 x 1.5" (38 x 559) size.

With a full 24Ton high modulus carbon frame and a full Shimano Sora Groupset, the Verenti Insight 0.4 proves you really can get big money performance on a budget. With a great all-rounder geometry and scope to upgrade this is the perfect first road bike.

Mudguards and Panniers that would fit?

Hi, I'm just wondering if you can suggest any mudguards and pannier racks that would fit this bike. what criteria would they have to meet? e.g. does the bike only take clip on mudguards? Links to products would be great. Thanks.
Staff Answer
Unfortunately this would not accept pannier racks as most road bikes do not have the mounting points fitted to the frame, so you would require a conversion kit like the ones listed below. The bike should however be able to accept something like the Crud RoadRacer Mk2 Mudguard Set.

The NSB 1x10 Spider replaces the stock chainring spider so that you can run smaller chainrings on a Truvativ X0, X9, S2210 and S1400 cranks.

Which NSB spider would I need?

Have S1400 PF30 2x10 would like to go 1x10?
Staff Answer
I can confirm the X9 - BB30 option should fit your chainset without issue.

The new standard in urban bike lighting. The USB rechargeable Volt 100 delivers a constant 100 lumen output to see by and flashes at an ultravisible 150 lumen when you really need to be noticed!

Is there a rear light equivalent of this

I particularly like the Volt 100 front light because of (a) its use of USB charging instead of batteries, and (b) its fixing with FlexTight instead of flimsy elastic bands. I can't seem to find its 'pair' - does it exist?

The rear Cateyes I've seen have either USB or FlexTight but not both.

Thanks.
Staff Answer
Cateye list the Rapid X RC rear light as the 'match' to the Volt front light, but it does not feature USB charging I'm afraid. We also have the Volt 300/50 combo, which may be worth a look.
